The Quickening—an event which occurred over the span of less than a season in the year 178 BT—is widely considered to be one of the most influential in history, being the root cause of the First Death and God-War. The event is documented in the Quickening Star System, composed of stars published by various Gods documenting their own natural subdivisions. The host star, the Quickening Star, was published by the God of Matter to document their creation of the Elemental Gods.
Prelude & Aftermath
Before the start of the Quickening the Gods of Life and Death underwent the first instance of natural subdivision, documented in the First Epoch Star, the duo created the Gods of Matter, Energy, Time, and Space. This first division by Life and Death would inspire the God of Matter to divide their territory amongst the Elemental Gods. This division by Matter would in turn inspire the God of Energy to also undergo subdivision. This process would continue to recur, cascading down as Gods subdivided, resulting in the creation of an estimated fifteen billion Gods.
The astronomical number of Gods would lead to overlapping domains and cramped space. Documented in Death’s Star the increasing tensions would culminate in a confrontation between two Lesser-Gods, resulting in the First Death in 177 BT. Gods, now aware of their own mortality, would begin panicking and the God-War would begin.
