For linguistic entities, see Entity (linguistics).
The Universal Strata Model defines entities as, “physically distinct and discrete phenomena which exist in Reality as a result of the Real, and whose basal components are granted agency through relationships governed by the Unreal”. Entities can be made up of other entities, and emergent properties can arise in some entities which do not exist in their component parts. An entities attributes and properties are defined foremost by their material composition, especially the most basal components of that composition.
Entities are persistent—that is to say, they do not change unless acted upon through relationships. In the absence of any acting relational dynamics, an entity will retain is state, attributes, and structure indefinitely. Change requires that an entities’ current relationship be altered.
The Real, and thus entities, can cause natural personification in the Unreal through the phenomenon of natural concentration. As the Unreal and Real interact the Real may become too densely concentrated in the interaction, creating an imbalance between the Unreal’s governance and the Real’s ability to be governed. In these scenarios the Unreal may become unable to impose standard rational logic and must substitute by borrowing logic both from itself and the broader structure of Nature. The result is a God’s core—which is not an entity. God’s cores are an emergent property of the interaction, manifesting in Reality as a strange spherical warping of space. Gods attract their domain’s entities to compose their ‘bodies’, but are themselves not the entities that they are composed of.
This is only known to have happened once, creating the Gods of What Is and Is Not—though it is unclear if they are a singular or multiple beings. What Is and Is Not represent natures binary state of either being or not being. All other Gods are known to have been created through the process of natural subdivision: the ability of one or more Gods to divide the scope of their combined domains into two or more sections, creating new and unique Gods to preside over those portions of their domains.
Gods also possess a unique control over Reality, capable of speaking in God Tongue and directly altering relationships temporarily without the need for stars and manipulating entities without the need for new relationships.
